No and it will keep you from accumulating a balance again. We have closed a couple. :- I am going to step away from the traditional answer a bit and say that it's best to close those credit cards - if you have them available, then you're more apt to use them. Traditionally, they will decrease your debt to available credit ratio mentioned above. Also, keep in mind that if you close recently opened credit lines, that brings up a red flag to some degree in the Fair Isaac world. If you are worried about changing your debt / credit ratio, call your credit card company and ask them to raise your limits. They almost always will. Same thing with interest rates - Call them and ask for a lower rate. The 1st person you talk to will generally have some "wiggle" room to change it without going up the authorization chain
